Alien Swirling Saucers at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is getting a new name and an all-new soundtrack. Starting Friday, September 25, the Toy Story Land ride becomes Alien Swirling Saucers: Lilypad’s Jams, with Lilypad from Toy Story 5 taking over the music.
Lilypad is the frog-shaped smart tablet introduced in the latest Toy Story film, where she arrives in Bonnie’s house as new tech competing with the toys for playtime. At the ride she works as a DJ, connecting to the internet to remix Toy Story songs and mash up tunes across different styles and genres, according to Disney.
What Is On The New Playlist
The soundtrack mixes reimagined songs from the Toy Story films with originals written just for the attraction. Disney named “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” “We Belong Together” and “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away” among the classics getting new versions.
Two of the new songs have been named so far. “Pizza Planet Promo” is an in-story theme song for the pizza arcade from the films, and “Spin It Back, Lilypad” is a tribute to the newest toy in the backyard.
Imagineers recorded the soundtrack in Nashville with musicians working in pop, country, EDM and alt-rock.
“We wanted to think about the music in a completely new way, taking beloved songs from the Toy Story films, and create catchy new original songs, that are singable, sincere and a little cheesy, as one is about Pizza Planet,” said Thomas Niederhiser, senior creative producer at Walt Disney Imagineering.
Disney also said toys that do not usually get much attention, including Partysaurus Rex, will get more airtime in the new mix.
“Collaborating with our partners at Pixar Animation Studios to write for these characters and expand their stories is just pure joy,” said Geoff Line, senior story lead at Walt Disney Imagineering. “We played with these toys as kids. Now we get to play with them as Imagineers. It doesn’t get better than that.”
Lilypad Plays For The Whole Backyard
The update is not limited to riders. Lilypad will DJ for guests standing around the attraction as well, hyping and introducing tracks from her playlist between songs so people nearby can sing along.
Between tunes she will run small games for the crowd. Guests can try to guess which toy she is doodling on her drawing app, help her unscramble puzzles and watch “home videos” she has recorded of Toy Story characters.

She Is Already Installed
Lilypad turned up at the attraction on Saturday, ahead of the changeover. A large figure of the green frog-shaped tablet now sits on an orange base in the planters outside the ride, her screen showing a blue placeholder graphic that reads “The Pond.” The antenna of stacked colored balls on her head is in place too.

When Lilypad’s Jams Begins
The new version starts Friday, September 25. That is two days after Toy Story 5 begins streaming on Disney+ on Wednesday, September 23, so the character and her story will be available at home by the time she takes over the ride.
Disney has not said whether the original Alien Swirling Saucers music will return at any point, or whether Lilypad’s Jams will be a permanent change or a seasonal one.
