Josh Gad, the voice of Olaf, met the walking Olaf animatronic at World of Frozen in Disney Adventure World at Disneyland Paris. Gad shared the encounter in an Instagram video posted on September 21 with Disney Parks, writing, “I’ve been the voice of Olaf for over a decade. Turns out, he’s even more charming in person.”

“That Laugh Is So Familiar”

In the video, Gad reacts when Olaf laughs: “That laugh… That laugh is so familiar.” When the snowman hums a familiar tune, Gad tells him, “I really need to teach you some new songs by the way. It’s a good one. It just feels a little played out,” Laughing Place reported.

The laugh is his own. Walt Disney Imagineering has said the figure’s voice is not synthesized but built from recorded performances by Gad.

The Olaf At World Of Frozen

The walk-around Olaf has appeared at World of Frozen since the land opened on March 29 at Disney Adventure World, the reimagined second park at Disneyland Paris that was formerly Walt Disney Studios Park. Imagineering trained the figure’s walk using reinforcement learning so it moves like the character on screen.

Gad also recorded original dialogue for the new Audio-Animatronics Olaf in Olaf Draws! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
