Disney’s California Adventure Park (DCA) has undergone numerous changes and renovations over the years, with new attractions and experiences being added regularly. However, some visitors may be surprised to learn that there are a number of attractions that were open when the park first opened its gates that are no longer around. In this article, we’ll take a look back at some of the closed attractions at DCA that are now just a fond memory.
- Superstar Limo When California Adventure first opened, one of its headline attractions was Superstar Limo. This dark ride took visitors on a trip through Hollywood, with celebrity caricatures and tongue-in-cheek references to Tinseltown. However, despite the hype surrounding the ride’s opening, it was not well-received by visitors and was closed after just one year of operation. If you never got the chance to check out this attraction here’s a video showcasing the ride and its former queue:
- Mulholland Madness Another early attraction that is now closed at DCA was Mulholland Madness, a wild mouse-style coaster that took riders on a twisty-turny journey through the Hollywood hills. The ride was a popular addition to the park, but was eventually removed in 2010 to make way for Goofy’s Sky School. If you never got the chance to check out this ride before it closed you can see what it looked like here:
- Maliboomer One of the park’s more thrilling attractions was Maliboomer, a tower ride that launched riders high into the air for a brief moment of weightlessness. The ride was located in the Paradise Pier section of the park and operated for over a decade before closing in 2011.
- Disney’s Electrical Parade Though not technically an attraction, Disney’s Electrical Parade was a beloved nighttime spectacle that ran at California Adventure Park for a number of years. The parade featured a colorful array of Disney characters and floats that lit up the night sky, accompanied by a memorable soundtrack. However, the parade’s run at DCA came to an end in 2010, and it has since been replaced by other nighttime entertainment options. If you never got the chance to view the parade while it was running in DCA you can view it here:
- Golden Dreams was a film-based attraction that chronicled the history of California, from the Gold Rush to the present day. The attraction was housed in the Golden State section of the park and was considered a popular and educational addition to the park. However, it was eventually closed in 2008 to make way The Little Mermaid’s Undersea Adventure.
While it’s always exciting to see what new attractions Disney has in store for us, it’s also important to take a moment to remember the closed attractions at DCA that helped shape the park into what it is today. Whether you rode Superstar Limo or took a journey through California’s history with Golden Dreams, these attractions will always hold a special place in the hearts of Disney fans.
