Disneyland plans new Encanto musical show for DCA
A new musical production of Encanto may be coming to Disneyland’s California Adventure very soon. The production would feature Mirabel and her sisters singing along to the original soundtrack by Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.
While no official details have been released by Disneyland, officials with the resort did stress they are always exploring new ways to bring favorite stories to life.
Disney’s 2021 Encanto musical comedy animated film tells the story of a Colombian family with supernatural powers. Madrigal sisters Mirabel, Isabela and Luisa live in a magical house in the charmed and hidden mountain town of Encanto.
According to the Disney Auditions postings, we can assume this show may debut in the Viva Navidad Holiday Season. No word on what theater it would be in, however, The Hyperion Theater, has been empty since the summer of 2023.
The Mirabel job listing seeks a mezzo-soprano singer with musical theater experience who would be required to join the Disneyland union representing actors and singers. The Isabela and Luisa roles call for on-stage work.
