Mickey Will Ring In 2027 In Kimono At Tokyo Disney Resort’s New Year’s Greeting

Mickey and friends in kimono for New Year's Greeting at Tokyo Disneyland

Mickey and his friends will dress in Japanese kimono when New Year’s Greeting returns to Tokyo Disney Resort from January 1 to 11, 2027. Both parks are running the show twice a day, and the decorations at the Tokyo Disneyland entrance feature Danny, the little lamb from So Dear to My Heart, since 2027 is the Year of the Sheep.

Two Versions Of The Show

At Tokyo Disneyland, New Year’s Greeting runs along the parade route and lasts about 25 minutes, with Mickey, Minnie and friends in kimono on New Year floats and a band in kimono playing along. Over at Tokyo DisneySea, Mickey and friends greet guests from a decorated boat in Mediterranean Harbor for a shorter version. Both run twice a day for the full January 1 to 11 stretch.

The parks start ringing in the new year a few days earlier. A fireworks show called New Day, New Dreams lights up both parks from December 26 through January 11.

Kadomatsu And Fortune Slips

Traditional kadomatsu pine decorations go up at the World Bazaar entrance of Tokyo Disneyland on December 26, with designs featuring Mickey and Danny. Tokyo DisneySea’s kadomatsu follow the next day, decked out in Jubilee Blue, the color of the park’s 25th anniversary celebration.

From December 26 through January 11, cast members will also carry boxes of New Year fortune slips. Each slip has a single kanji character and a hopeful message for the year ahead, and they’re handed out while supplies last. Park tickets bought online for January 1 to 11 come with a special New Year design, and the Disney Resort Line monorail sells New Year-design passes from December 26 to January 11.

Merchandise And Food Dates

New Year merchandise goes on sale December 1, 2026, well ahead of the celebration. The special food menu follows on December 26, with some items starting December 31, and the restaurants at the Disney Ambassador Hotel, Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta and Tokyo Disneyland Hotel will offer holiday menus from December 26 to January 11.

Two holiday overlays at Tokyo Disneyland also stick around into the new year. Haunted Mansion “Holiday Nightmare” runs through January 7, and Country Bear Theater’s “Jingle Bell Jamboree” plays until January 16. Before any of that, Tokyo DisneySea fans have Duffy and Friends winter merchandise arriving November 2.
