One of Disneyland’s most beloved dining traditions is taking a break. The popular Minnie & Friends Character Breakfast at Plaza Inn will be temporarily unavailable starting August 10, 2026, with the experience expected to return in late September, according to new messaging Disney has added to the restaurant’s listing.
What Disney’s Message Says
The notice, first spotted by ThemeParkIQ, reads: “The Character Dining experience at Plaza Inn will be temporarily unavailable starting August 10, 2026, and is expected to return in late September.” Disney has not shared a reason for the pause, and no refurbishment is currently listed for the restaurant. The timing lines up with a busy stretch at the resort that includes D23 weekend and the ramp up to Halloween Time, which officially begins August 21.
The Restaurant Stays Open
The good news is that Plaza Inn itself is not closing. Per LaughingPlace, the Main Street U.S.A. restaurant will remain open for lunch and dinner during the pause, so guests can still grab its famous fried chicken. Only the morning character experience, where Minnie Mouse and friends visit tables while guests enjoy the breakfast buffet, is affected. The pause stings a little more than most, since the Minnie & Friends breakfast is the only character dining experience located inside Disneyland Park itself, with a rotating lineup that regularly includes favorites like Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Pluto, and Chip and Dale alongside Minnie.
Plan Ahead For Late Summer Visits
Guests with trips planned between August 10 and late September who want a character meal will need to look at other options around the resort, all of which are located at the Disneyland Resort hotels. Those include Storytellers Cafe and Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel. Anyone hoping for one last breakfast with Minnie before the pause should book soon, since reservations for the final dates will likely go fast. Those visiting for D23 weekend in Anaheim should plan accordingly.
