Disney’s Oasis Documentary Don’t Look Back In Anger Will Premiere At The Venice Film Festival

Disney is heading to the Lido with one of music’s biggest reunions. The company’s upcoming Oasis documentary “Don’t Look Back in Anger” will have its world premiere at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, which unveiled its full lineup on Thursday.

Chronicling The Reunion Heard Around The World

The documentary chronicles the Gallagher brothers and their record-shattering Oasis Live ’25 reunion tour, which brought Liam and Noel back to the same stage after more than 15 years apart, and is touted as featuring the brothers’ first joint interviews in over 25 years. Created by BAFTA and Oscar-nominated Peaky Blinders writer Steven Knight and directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, the film will screen as a special event, with the Gallaghers expected to attend. Landing a Venice premiere slot puts it in prestigious company, with this year’s lineup featuring new work from directors including Martin McDonagh, Hirokazu Kore-eda, and Luca Guadagnino. Details on the premiere are available at Variety.

A Growing Music Documentary Slate

The Venice bow continues an aggressive push into premium music and celebrity documentaries for Disney’s streaming operation, which this week also announced the definitive Julie Andrews documentary for 2027. High profile nonfiction has become a reliable driver for Disney+ alongside scripted tentpoles like Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3.

The 83rd Venice International Film Festival runs September 2 through 12. Following its premiere, “Don’t Look Back in Anger” will open in IMAX venues and cinemas worldwide for a limited theatrical engagement beginning September 11, before streaming exclusively on Disney+ internationally and on Hulu and Disney+ in the U.S. later this year. For a band that famously told us not to look back in anger, the Gallaghers seem more than happy to let cameras do exactly that.
