Walt Disney World has removed the 2027 opening year from its Tropical Americas description, but Disney’s own Disney Experiences site still says the new land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is “set to open in 2027.”
What Changed
The “what’s coming to the parks” section of Walt Disney World’s events calendar page used to invite guests “to journey to an 11-acre, immersive land in 2027.” The entry, first spotted changed on September 10, now reads: “Prepare for your journey to an 11-acre land,” with no year. It also now uses the attraction names announced at D23 in August: Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, and El Carrusel de los Animalitos.
Where 2027 Still Appears
The Disney Experiences expansions page still says, “Set to open in 2027, Tropical Americas is a new land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom,” and an April Disney Parks Blog post still says, “When it opens in 2027.” Disney has not announced a new timeframe.
BlogMickey reported that the plan is still to open the land in 2027, with its sources pointing to late 2027.
Construction Continues
Tropical Americas is replacing DinoLand U.S.A., which closed in February. Aerial photos posted September 20 show the Casita for Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto as a fully formed steel frame, with rockwork going up on the Encanto show building behind it.
