Avengers: Doomsday will reach UK cinemas two days before it opens in the United States. Empire reports that the film’s UK release has moved up from Friday, December 18, to Wednesday, December 16, and Disney confirmed the new date to Digital Spy.
The US date is not changing. Avengers: Doomsday still opens in American theaters on Friday, December 18, 2026, giving UK audiences a two-day head start on the Russo brothers’ first Avengers film since Endgame.
How The Change Surfaced
The earlier date first showed up in updated showtime listings at UK cinema chains, including Odeon, before Disney confirmed it.
A Familiar Pattern For Marvel
Opening a day or two early in the UK is nothing new for the biggest Marvel releases. Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame both reached British cinemas ahead of their US debuts, and Empire notes that Spider-Man: Brand New Day also played in the UK a couple of days before it opened in America this summer.
For fans in the United States, the two-day gap means Doomsday will be out in the UK before it opens at home, so anyone hoping to avoid spoilers may want to be careful online that week.
What Comes Before December
Anthony and Joe Russo direct Avengers: Doomsday, which brings Robert Downey Jr. back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom. The film was originally set for May 1, 2026, before Disney moved it to December, and Avengers: Secret Wars follows on December 17, 2027.
