Noah Jupe Joins Avengers: Secret Wars In A Secret Role Marvel Says Is Key To The Story

Marvel Studios has added Noah Jupe to Avengers: Secret Wars, the first new name attached to the film since it was dated for December 17, 2027. Deadline reported the casting Tuesday, describing the part as a secret role that is expected to play a key part in the story. Marvel had no comment.

The timing is what stands out. Avengers: Doomsday does not reach theaters until December 18, and Secret Wars is not scheduled to begin production until later this year. Casting for the follow-up is already moving while the first film is still more than three months from release, which points to the two shoots running close together.

Who Noah Jupe Is

Jupe, 21, came up as a child actor in The Night Manager and The Undoing before breaking out on the big screen as Marcus Abbott in A Quiet Place and its sequel. He earned an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Honey Boy, appeared in Ford v Ferrari, and most recently co-starred in Hamnet, the Focus Features drama that went on to win at the Oscars. Over the summer he played Romeo opposite Sadie Sink in a West End revival of Romeo and Juliet that drew strong notices for both leads.

That last credit is the connection Marvel fans will notice first. Sink made her Marvel debut as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day in July and is set to return in Jake Schreier’s X-Men. Secret Wars would put the two Romeo and Juliet co-stars back on the same call sheet within a year of the play’s run, this time in a film built around multiple universes colliding.

What Marvel Has Not Said

Marvel has not identified the character, and neither Deadline nor Variety, which confirmed the casting, offered one. Fan guesses started within minutes and ranged across the Fantastic Four’s extended family and the next generation of X-Men, but none of that traces back to a source. The only firm detail is that the role matters to the plot, which rules out a cameo.

The secrecy fits the way Marvel has handled the two Avengers films. Doomsday has kept most of its story under wraps beyond the broad setup, which pits the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and several of Fox’s original X-Men against Robert Downey Jr.’s Victor Von Doom. The studio’s own Doomsday watchlist has been the closest thing to a roadmap for where the story is headed, and Secret Wars is expected to close out the Multiverse Saga after it.

The Cast He Joins

Doomsday’s returning lineup includes Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joseph Quinn, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, with Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds confirmed for the film in August. Which of those actors carry over into Secret Wars has mostly been left to the cast members themselves to confirm in interviews.

Anthony and Joe Russo are directing both films, with Kevin Feige producing. Avengers: Doomsday opens December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars follows on December 17, 2027.
