The Monsters, Inc. Door Vault coaster’s show building is now big enough to read from across Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the newest photos show coaster track visible inside the rising structure. The massive building is climbing out of a section of the park’s former parking lot, close enough to the old rows that Olaf parking signs still stand in some of the shots.
The Vault Goes Vertical
The structure will house the anchor attraction of Monstropolis, the new land replacing the former Muppets Courtyard and pushing beyond the park’s existing footprint. The ride recreates the door vault chase from the 2001 film, sending guests through the factory in suspended, door-themed vehicles that hang beneath the track, a first for a Disney park. With the film approaching its 25th anniversary, the sequence fans have called the most coaster-ready scene in Pixar history is finally being built at full scale, and the track pieces peeking through the steel make the inverted design plain to see from ground level.
Where The Project Stands
The visible progress tracks with a construction timeline that has moved quickly all year. Support columns went vertical in the spring, the first track section was installed inside the show building in late June, and additional curved track assemblies have been arriving at the site through August. The show building’s steel skeleton currently offers clear views of the ride’s different functional areas, but that window is temporary, since floors, walls and a roof will gradually seal the vault away until opening day, when it is meant to be experienced from a swinging vehicle rather than a parking lot.
The land around it has its own momentum. Disney confirmed on its Pardon Our Pixie Dust podcast that Monstropolis will open in phases starting in 2027, with the door coaster following after the land’s first wave. That first phase includes Harryhausen’s, the sushi restaurant drawn straight from the film, and The Glob theater, whose own structure has been advancing nearby. A Randy Newman song written for the land was another detail Disney has already put on the record.
A New Landmark On The Skyline
Show buildings this large change how a park reads from the outside, and this one is joining the Hollywood Studios horizon at the same time Piston Peak and Villains Land reshape Magic Kingdom’s. For guests riding the Skyliner or scanning the skyline from the parking areas, the vault is no longer a construction rumor, it is a building. The steel will disappear behind themed facades soon enough, which makes this stretch of construction the best look anyone outside the fences is going to get at how the ride actually threads through the space.
