Diamond Horseshoe Opening Day Reservations Sell Out Behind A Virtual Queue

Walt Disney World opened Diamond Horseshoe reservations at 8 p.m. Eastern on September 29 behind a virtual queue, and tables for the Magic Kingdom pop-up’s October 4 opening day sold out within about half an hour of the release.

Guests who tried to book were held in the queue before they could reach the booking page. By 8:07 p.m., Disney was warning those still waiting that tables might be gone before they got in: “Due to high demand, reservations for The Diamond Horseshoe … may be limited or could be unavailable when it’s your turn to enter the site.”

How The Virtual Queue Worked

Disney had set the 8 p.m. Eastern release in advance, an evening slot instead of the morning release most Walt Disney World table-service reservations use.

Guests in line saw a “Thank You for Your Continued Patience” screen that told them to keep the page open and not refresh it. Disney also noted that a place in the queue did not guarantee a reservation, since availability was limited. Some guests did get through and book once their turn came.

Bookings run through Disney’s reservation page for the Diamond Horseshoe Lounge, where guests can check later dates for openings.

Walk-Ups Once The Pop-Up Opens

A reservation is not the only way in. Disney has said it will accommodate walk-ups once the pop-up begins, so guests who came away from the September 29 release without a table can still try in person at Magic Kingdom starting Sunday, October 4.

Anyone planning a walk-up visit still needs to get into the park. Disney’s Diamond Horseshoe Lounge page says valid admission is required, and a theme park reservation may be required based on admission type.

What To Know Before Visiting

The Diamond Horseshoe sits in Liberty Square, and Disney lists the lounge as a limited-time pop-up dining experience. It will not be open during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party but will be open during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Disney has not announced a closing date for the pop-up.

Disney’s menu lists six small plates, four nonalcoholic specialty drinks, five cocktails and a seasonal cocktail called In Holiday Fashion, along with wine and draft beer. Items include Sweet Golden Corn Fritters with red chili honey, Queso Fundido with Barbecue Burnt Ends, Glazed Sticky Ribs with cowboy beans and the High Plains Huckleberry cocktail, made with 44° North Mountain Huckleberry Vodka.
