The Savannah Bananas made history at Walt Disney World on Friday night, playing their first-ever Banana Ball game at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The Loco Beach Coconuts topped the Party Animals on a walk-off in a game that brought the energy, dancing, and chaos Banana Ball is known for. Stitch crashed the field for one of the night’s best moments.
The event was part of a two-night run at Walt Disney World, with games on both May 29 and 30. One game streamed live on ESPN Unlimited and Disney+.
What Is Banana Ball?
Banana Ball is baseball completely reinvented with fans at the center. The rules are unlike anything in traditional baseball. Fans catching foul balls count as outs. Players can steal first base. Bunting is banned. Games run on a timer instead of innings. Dancing and crowd interaction are built into the game from first pitch to final out. The Savannah Bananas have sold out MLB stadiums across the country and built one of the most passionate fanbases in all of sports.
A Growing Partnership With Disney
The Walt Disney World games are part of a major 2026 expansion of the Disney and Savannah Bananas partnership. Disney announced 25 exclusive Banana Ball games streaming on Disney+ and the ESPN App this year. That is more than double the 12-game slate from 2025. The relationship between the two organizations goes back to 2022 and has grown steadily every year since.
The partnership will hit a new peak this fall when The Banana Bowl, the Banana Ball league championship, streams live on Disney+. All six teams compete for the title in what the league is calling its biggest event ever. Earlier in 2026, the Bananas also took over Anaheim for Savannah Bananas Day at Disneyland on March 26, combining a game at Angel Stadium with a celebration inside the park.
