Adventure Time is coming back, and this time it is heading to Disney+ and Hulu. Adventure Time: Side Quests premieres on June 29, 2026, just eight days away, and the official trailer is here.
What Is Adventure Time: Side Quests?
Side Quests is a prequel companion series to the Emmy, Peabody, and Annie Award-winning original Adventure Time, which ran on Cartoon Network from 2010 to 2018. Set in the early days of Finn and Jake’s adventures across the Land of Ooo, the show strips away the mythology and emotional weight of the later seasons in favor of standalone, self-contained episodes. Think silly quests, monster punching, and pure fun, much like the episodes that hooked millions of viewers in the first place.
The official synopsis reads: “Adventure awaits a young hero Finn and his magical dog best friend Jake as they quest to party with cloud people and punch evil’s butt across the epic and fantastical land of Ooo.”
The Cast
Sasha Knight steps in as the voice of a younger Finn, while most of the original cast returns. John DiMaggio is back as Jake the Dog, Tom Kenny reprises Ice King, Hynden Walch returns as Princess Bubblegum, Olivia Olson is back as Marceline, and Niki Yang returns as BMO. Franchise veteran Nate Cash serves as showrunner and executive producer. “Making Side Quests felt like making the original Adventure Time, which felt like hanging out with art school buddies making professional cartoons,” Cash said in the announcement, per Deadline.
A Landmark Move for the Franchise
This marks the first time an Adventure Time series has premiered outside the Warner Bros. Discovery ecosystem. Previous spinoffs Distant Lands and Fionna and Cake both debuted on HBO Max. The move to Disney+ and Hulu is a notable shift, and one that gives the franchise a much larger potential audience in the United States.
Adventure Time: Side Quests premieres June 29 on Disney+ and Hulu in the U.S., with an international rollout on Cartoon Network and HBO Max on October 5.
