Ariel’s Undersea Adventure Is Getting A Splash Of Blue At California Adventure

The Little Mermaid Ariel's Undersea Adventure at Disney California Adventure

The Little Mermaid facade at Disney California Adventure is getting a fresh splash of color. With the scrims pulled back, the ride building now shows blue paint between the bas relief figures, Tustin Raider shared on October 16. Scaffolding still wraps the building, so the work is not finished yet.

His photos show the scaffolding climbing all the way to the top of the facade, with the building’s blue scalloped awning visible at street level below. The blue is easiest to see on the upper levels, between the sculpted figures.

The building is home to The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure, which takes riders below the waves through favorite characters and songs from the film, including “Under the Sea.” The LMG Vids ride-through above shows the full attraction.

If you want another look inside before the facade is finished, our ride video of Ariel’s Undersea Adventure has a full look at the ride.

Pixar Pier’s Lamppost Refurbishment Is Almost Done

Next door on Pixar Pier, the lamppost refurbishment has nearly wrapped up. The refreshed lampposts are standing along the boardwalk again, though there are no string lights on them yet.

Tustin Raider had planned to climb the stairs at Silly Symphony Swings for a look over the construction walls around the Coco attraction site, but the swings were closed because of the wind that day. A high wind event has been hitting the resort this week, and our editor Matt Desmond noted that it has also kept scrims down and that the canopy for the new Esplanade security checkpoint probably won’t go up this weekend.

What It Means For Your Visit

The facade work comes as Paradise Gardens Park sees other changes this fall, with the area also hosting Plaza de la Familia and its Día de los Muertos decorations through November 2.

Both projects are cosmetic. The lampposts are already back in place along the Pixar Pier walkway, and the Little Mermaid facade now shows its new color, though the scaffolding is still up.

Once the scaffolding comes down, guests walking through Paradise Gardens Park will see the new blue across the full front of the building. Disney has not announced when the facade work will be finished, so we will keep checking on the scaffolding on our next visits.
