Endgame Is Coming Back
Marvel fans have something major to look forward to this fall. Disney has officially confirmed that the re-release of Avengers: Endgame will be titled Avengers: Endgame Encore, and it is heading back to theaters on September 25, 2026. The announcement was made during CineEurope in Barcelona, where Disney also formally unveiled its new Infinity Vision screening format. The re-release will feature exclusive new content not available in any other format, making it well worth a return trip to the big screen.
What’s New in Avengers: Endgame Encore?
The Encore edition is not simply a straight re-release. According to Deadline, the re-release will include a custom introduction, additional new footage, and a special end tag that will be exclusive to Infinity Vision and IMAX presentations. Guests seeing the film in standard formats will still get the custom intro and new footage, but the end tag is reserved for the premium large-format experience. Director Joe Russo has said the new footage is set in the Doomsday story, calling the re-release an opportunity to create a bridge from Endgame to Doomsday.
Disney is also ramping up its Infinity Vision format for upcoming tentpoles, and Endgame Encore is part of that push. The format offers an enhanced visual and audio presentation, and pairing it with arguably the most consequential film in the MCU’s history is a smart move heading into the Avengers: Doomsday era.
Why Now?
Avengers: Doomsday is currently in production with Robert Downey Jr. returning as Doctor Doom, and the MCU is building toward what promises to be another landmark event film. Bringing Endgame back to theaters in September gives new fans and longtime Marvel devotees a chance to revisit the culmination of the Infinity Saga on the big screen before the next chapter begins.
Footage from Avengers: Doomsday was also screened for attendees at CineEurope, suggesting the marketing machine for the next Avengers film is beginning to pick up speed. The Encore re-release should serve as an effective appetizer for what’s coming. The MCU’s Disney+ slate is also heating up, with X-Men ’97 Season 2 premiering July 1.
