Disneyland Paris has temporarily modified its nighttime entertainment as another heatwave grips the region, and the changes extend to the resort’s Bastille Day festivities. Local authorities in Seine-et-Marne have banned fireworks from July 10 through July 15 due to the elevated wildfire risk, prompting the resort to scale back the pyrotechnic elements of its evening spectaculars.
Why The Shows Are Changing
Heat and drought conditions across France routinely trigger restrictions on pyrotechnics, as dry conditions raise the risk of fire. That makes fireworks the most common casualty when temperatures spike, and resorts typically pivot to projection and lighting elements that can carry a show without the added risk. Through July 15, Disney Tales of Magic at Disneyland Park and Disney Cascade of Lights at Disney Adventure World are both being presented in adapted versions without pyrotechnic effects.
The timing is particularly notable because Bastille Day falls on July 14, one of the biggest celebration nights on the French calendar and a peak attendance driver for the resort. This year’s celebration debuts a brand new show that follows Tinker Bell on a journey through beloved Disney and Pixar classics, and Disneyland Paris has confirmed it will still take place using its drone display and projections on Sleeping Beauty Castle, just without the fireworks that were originally planned.
