Disneyland Resort has bought the former U.S. headquarters of Yamaha Motor Corp. USA in Cypress for $115 million and plans to use it for back-of-house operations. The sale of the 25-acre campus at 6555 Katella Ave. closed on September 23.

Disney says the 25-acre site, 6.5 miles from Disneyland, will support back-of-house operations and the resort’s “long-term operational needs” as the company continues to grow.
What Disney Said About The Yamaha Campus
In a statement, Disney said: “This property offered an opportunity for a sound investment given its sizable footprint and proximity to the resort. This acquisition provides space that can help support our long-term operational needs for our continued growth and evolving business needs. We just finalized the acquisition of this property and do not have any additional information to share at this time.”
Back-of-house is the part of running a resort that guests never see, such as laundry and costuming. Disney has not said which departments will use the Cypress site.
What Disney Bought
The property takes up a full city block, with Katella Avenue, Holder Street and Yamaha Way along its edges. Its warehouse, flex and office buildings add up to 278,964 square feet, and the land is zoned for industrial use. Cypress sits west of Anaheim, and the campus is roughly 7 miles from Disneyland Resort’s Simba parking lot, or a 15 to 20 minute drive.
It is one of the biggest redevelopment sites in North Orange County, where open land is scarce.
Yamaha Plans To Stay Until 2028
Disney will not be moving in any time soon. Yamaha bought the property in 1978 and ran its U.S. headquarters there from 1979 on. The company is now consolidating in Kennesaw, Georgia, where its marine and motorsports businesses already moved, and it plans to lease the full property back until December 31, 2028 while it finishes the relocation.
Yamaha has tied the move to “structural reforms” meant to make the business more profitable, pointing to higher costs from tariffs and a shifting market.
Why The Space Matters To Disneyland
Disney is Orange County’s top employer, and the Cypress campus gives Disneyland Resort a large block of backstage space near the parks. It comes while the resort is already building on its own land, including the new parking structure and transportation hub on the Manchester cast member lot.
