Lupita Nyong’o Reunites With Black Panther At Disneyland Paris

Lupita Nyong’o paid a visit to Marvel Avengers Campus at Disneyland Paris, and she made sure to stop for a photo with an old friend from Wakanda. Disneyland Paris shared the moment on Instagram, showing the Oscar-winning actress and Black Panther standing side by side with their arms crossed in front of a giant Avengers logo.

“When two Wakandan legends meet!” the resort wrote in its caption, adding that Nyong’o “reunited with Black Panther for a heroic moment” during her time in the land.

Nyong’o kept it casual for her day in the park, wearing a red and white plaid flannel over a light gray top and leggings, with a gray cap. Black Panther, as usual, kept it all business, matching her crossed-arm pose for the shot.

Why It Was A Reunion

Nyong’o played Nakia, the Wakandan spy and War Dog, in Marvel Studios’ Black Panther in 2018 and returned for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in 2022. Wakanda Forever closed with one of the biggest surprises in the franchise: Nakia had been raising T’Challa’s young son, Toussaint, in Haiti, and the boy revealed his Wakandan name is T’Challa.

That makes the timing of this photo fun. Marvel used its Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con in July to confirm Black Panther 3 with David Jonsson as T’Challa’s son, with Ryan Coogler back to direct and a December 15, 2028 release date. Letitia Wright and Winston Duke are returning, but Marvel has not said whether Nyong’o will return as Nakia.

Nyong’o won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for 12 Years a Slave, which is why Disneyland Paris called her “Oscar-winning” in the post.

How Guests Can Meet Black Panther In Paris

Marvel Avengers Campus opened on July 20, 2022, inside what was then Walt Disney Studios Park. The park became Disney Adventure World on March 29, 2026, the same day World of Frozen opened, and Avengers Campus carried over as one of its lands.

Black Panther is one of the heroes who patrols the land, so guests can run into him around the campus, though Disneyland Paris says character appearances change throughout the year. He has also been part of Avengers Unite, the land’s rooftop show. The Hero Training Centre offers a separate meet and greet with a rotating lineup of Avengers, booked through the Disneyland Paris app.

The land is also home to two rides, Avengers Assemble: Flight Force and Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure.

Nyong’o is not the only Marvel star to drop in. Daredevil star Charlie Cox also met Spider-Man at Avengers Campus during his own visit to the resort.
