Guests riding Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disneyland no longer need to stow their phones. As of June 24, 2026, cast members are allowing guests to hold their phones during the attraction without requiring straps or placing them away, according to ThemeParkIQ.
What Changed
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disneyland previously required guests to secure their phones in pockets or bags, consistent with the ride’s trackless vehicle system and the fast-paced movements involved. The change, observed as of June 24, appears to align the Disneyland version of the attraction more closely with standard Disney dark ride phone policies, where guests are permitted to hold personal items during the experience but are strongly discouraged from using them for video or photography.
This policy update applies to the Disneyland version specifically. The Walt Disney World version of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Hollywood Studios may operate under its own guidelines, and guests should check with cast members at each location for current requirements.
About Mickey And Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a trackless dark ride that takes guests into the world of the Disney Channel short series Mickey Mouse. The ride opened at Hollywood Studios on March 4, 2020, replacing The Great Movie Ride, and at Disneyland on January 27, 2023, in a newly built show building within Mickey’s Toontown called the El CapiTOON Theater. It is one of the few attractions at Disneyland to feature a lengthy, interactive queue with hidden Easter eggs throughout, and it holds the distinction of being the first Mickey Mouse-themed ride-through attraction at a Disney theme park.
