Tropical Americas is really taking shape. New aerial photos captured by BlogMickey.com offer the most comprehensive look yet at the massive construction site at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, arriving less than a month before new details are expected at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. A Bird’s Eye View Of Animal Kingdom’s Future
The images show the sprawling footprint of the land that will replace DinoLand U.S.A., with show buildings, infrastructure, and themed structures all visibly progressing across the site. Tropical Americas will bring an Encanto attraction and an Indiana Jones adventure to the park, and recent weeks have delivered steady visible milestones, including the mesh mountain range now rising atop the Encanto show building. Casita Foundations, Rockwork, And A First Tree
The most significant development in the latest batch is the foundation of Casa Madrigal itself. Concrete walls are rising on a constructed berm so the casita will sit on a hillside, a trick borrowed from the Haunted Mansion playbook that lets the family home read as a freestanding structure while the massive show building hides behind it. Higher up, wire mesh for rockwork is now being installed along the highest roofline of the Encanto show building, the first step in disguising the structure as the mountain range seen in the concept model.
Elsewhere in the future Pueblo Esperanza village, the carousel near the northern entrance now shows a visible circular foundation with vertical construction and roof beams going up around it. Nearby, the first mature transplanted tree has arrived at the northern entrance area, a reliable sign that landscaping is beginning to ramp up alongside the structural work.
An Indiana Jones Temple Rises
On the other side of the land, the former DINOSAUR show building continues its transformation into an Indiana Jones adventure, with a steel framework climbing several stories to form the future temple facade. Backstage, scenic elements for the ride are being fabricated in the Imagineering office area, alongside a field of theming samples that lets Imagineers test finishes against the Florida sun, heat, and humidity before anything is installed for good.
D23 Should Bring Answers
The timing of the progress is no coincidence for fans watching the calendar. Tropical Americas is widely expected to be a centerpiece of the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase on Saturday, August 15, where updates on the future of Disney Parks will take the stage in Anaheim. Opening timelines, attraction names, and ride details are all on the wish list, and the D23 2026 programming lineup has been building toward exactly this kind of reveal.
