Walt Disney World has unveiled the full map for The Magic of Disney Animation, the new collection of experiences opening later this summer at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The map gives fans the clearest look yet at what to expect from this long-awaited attraction.
The experience takes over the former Star Wars Launch Bay building at the back of the reimagined Walt Disney Studios Lot. The overall design draws inspiration from the real Walt Disney Animation Studios campus in Burbank, rooted in the premise of the Emmy Award-winning short film Once Upon a Studio.
What Is Inside the Magic of Disney Animation?
Guests enter beneath a Sorcerer Hat inspired by the iconic Roy E. Disney Animation Building in Burbank. From there, a central studio-style courtyard features character statues announcing an open house at the studio. Moana, Flounder, the Mad Hatter, and a Lost Boy from the original attraction welcome guests at the entrance.
From the courtyard, guests can head in two directions. Confirmed experiences inside include the Once Upon a Studio Theater, a special screening of the Emmy-winning short; Drawn to Wonderland, an indoor playground for younger guests inspired by Mary Blair’s original Alice in Wonderland concept art; drawing rooms and animation-themed galleries; and character meet-and-greets.
The map also teases a deep roster of characters represented throughout the space, from Olaf, Elsa, Anna, Ralph, Hades, and Baloo to some surprisingly rare Disney Animation deep cuts. The Lost Boy from the original Magic of Disney Animation attraction also gets a dedicated space where guests can learn the character’s story.
When Does It Open?
The Magic of Disney Animation is set to open in late summer 2026. The reimagined Walt Disney Studios Lot area is already welcoming guests, but the main building remains the centerpiece of what is still to come. Based on the map, this looks like one of the most charming new additions Hollywood Studios has seen in years.
