Tom Holland is about to be paid like the record-breaker his movie is. TheWrap reports, citing three individuals with knowledge of the deal, that Holland stands to make over $100 million for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The package starts with a base salary of at least $20 million up front, a $10 million raise over what he made on No Way Home, and climbs past nine figures once backend box office bonuses are factored in.
The Bonus Has No Ceiling
The most striking detail is that Holland’s backend bonus is not capped. One of those sources said there is no ceiling on what he may ultimately make, and the math keeps moving in his favor. Brand New Day crossed $2 billion worldwide this past weekend, in just its third week of release, becoming the first solo superhero film ever to reach that mark and the highest grossing Spider-Man film of all time. Every ticket sold from here adds to a number that is already historic.
The payday also stacks on top of what Holland earned for The Odyssey, Christopher Nolan’s epic that opened in July and gave the actor two global hits in a single summer. Between the two films, Holland has vaulted into the small club of Hollywood’s highest paid actors, and he did it at age 30.
The Downey Trajectory
The deal follows the path Robert Downey Jr. blazed at Marvel. Downey earned $500,000 for the first Iron Man before his base salary and backend deal ballooned, netting him around $50 million for Iron Man 3 alone. Marvel backend money is famously large even in fragments. Actor Tom Hollander told Seth Meyers in 2024 that he once mistakenly received one of Holland’s Avengers: Infinity War checks, and that a single box office bonus installment, not the salary and not the full bonus, was a seven figure sum.
The raise reflects how completely this film has rewritten the record books. Brand New Day opened to a $360 million domestic weekend that took the all-time record from Avengers: Endgame, and it has held the number one spot every weekend since. Holland has played Peter Parker for a decade across seven films, and with the franchise plan already pointing toward a handoff after his run, this contract may stand as the peak of what the role pays anyone.
