The cast of bronze and resin animals on the Walt Disney Studios Lot at Disney’s Hollywood Studios grew again over the weekend of September 5. Oliver and Dodger from Oliver and Company appeared on the morning of Saturday, September 5, a day after Bolt, two Dalmatian puppies from 101 Dalmatians, Meeko from Pocahontas and Bruni from Frozen 2 were spotted around the courtyard, nine days before The Magic of Disney Animation opens on September 14.
None of the additions were announced. Since the reimagined courtyard, which replaced the old Animation Courtyard, opened in May, Imagineering has been placing character statues in the space a few at a time, and guests have been finding them the way the new area intends: by looking.
Even more new statues in Animation Courtyard omg

Oliver And Dodger On A Bench
Saturday’s pair is staged as a scene rather than a portrait. Dodger stands on the turf in his red bandana with Oliver, the orange kitten, perched on his head, and a hot dog on a red and white tray sits on the slats of the park bench beside them, a nod to the street theft that opens their friendship in the 1988 film. A second Oliver and Company dog peeks around a nearby brick corner, tongue out, mid-stride.
Update, September 7: the courtyard picked up at least one more resident over the weekend. Little Brother, Mulan’s dog, has now been spotted alongside the Oliver and Company pair, and the lot’s new solar-powered self-compacting trash and recycling cans carry a logo made for the themed area. Posters for Hexed, the next Walt Disney Animation Studios feature, and its attached short Lilo and Scratch have gone up nearby.
Bolt, The Puppies, Meeko And Bruni
Friday’s arrivals are grouped just to the right of the Sorcerer Mickey hat that anchors the courtyard, near the character Walk of Fame and to the left of the Studio Store doors. Bolt is locked in a tug of war with one of the Dalmatian puppies, each with an end of the same bone in its mouth, while a second puppy sits behind them watching. The three figures are one sculptural group, not three separate statues. Meeko stands upright on his own patch of grass near the exit of Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live, holding a red and white striped popcorn box in one paw and eating from it with the other, a theme park twist on the raccoon’s food obsession in the film. Bruni, the fire salamander, sits on the round base of a lamp post.

A Courtyard That Keeps Filling In
The new figures join a lineup that already includes Pua and Thumper sharing a patch of grass near the courtyard entrance, Jiminy Cricket perched on a directional sign, Lucifer the cat baring his teeth up at Zazu, Abu climbing through store signage, Mochi from Big Hero 6 asleep on a roof ledge, Sir Hiss sharing a railing with Fru-Fru from Zootopia, Ray the firefly on a lamppost, and Jaq, Gus and Timothy Mouse as a trio. The pairings are deliberate: characters from different films are arranged so the relationship reads instantly, a predator eyeing a bird, a dog and a kitten sharing a stolen lunch.
The conceit matches Once Upon a Studio, the 2023 short in which Disney’s animated characters step off the page after hours and gather at the Burbank studio, and the open-house idea behind The Magic of Disney Animation, where the characters have the run of the place while their animators step away. The courtyard’s centerpiece facade is a replica of the Roy E. Disney Animation Building. We first walked the space when the courtyard opened in May; the character count has roughly doubled since.
The Magic of Disney Animation, the area’s headline attraction, opens September 14 with Olaf Draws, the Off the Page meet and greet spaces, the Drawn to Wonderland playground inspired by Mary Blair’s Alice in Wonderland artwork, and a dedicated theater for Once Upon a Studio. The attraction’s poster went up at its entrance in the first week of September. Ahead of the opening, the courtyard’s statue population may not be finished growing.
