EPCOT is getting a new quick-service dining spot in the Canada Pavilion. Refreshment Port, the counter service location that has been closed for several months, is reopening under a brand-new name: La Poutinerie. The new eatery will center its menu around poutine, the iconic Canadian dish of french fries topped with cheese curds and gravy, along with other Canadian comfort food.
What Is Replacing Refreshment Port?
Refreshment Port has been a fixture of the Canada Pavilion in World Showcase for years. It was best known for its Le Cellier Cheddar Cheese Soup and rotisserie chicken. The rebrand to La Poutinerie suggests a more focused concept built entirely around poutine and its many variations. That could be a fun and distinctive addition to World Showcase’s dining lineup.
What Is Poutine?
Poutine is a Canadian dish that originated in Quebec in the late 1950s. It has since become one of the country’s most beloved comfort foods. The classic version is simple: crispy french fries topped with fresh cheese curds and smothered in hot brown gravy. The heat of the gravy slightly melts the curds, creating a rich and satisfying combination. Modern versions often add toppings like pulled pork, short rib, lobster, or other ingredients, making it an endlessly customizable dish.
When Does La Poutinerie Open?
A full menu and reopening date for La Poutinerie have not yet been announced. The location sits in the Canada Pavilion in World Showcase at EPCOT. Keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app for updates as the opening approaches.
