Marvel’s Ghost Rider villain may have been found. Connor Storrie, the breakout star of the hockey romance series Heated Rivalry, is in talks to star opposite Ryan Gosling in Marvel Studios’ Ghost Rider, The Hollywood Reporter reported on Tuesday, and Deadline says he is reportedly the film’s villain.
Deadline has since confirmed that Storrie is circling the part. Marvel declined to comment, so nothing is official until a deal closes.

Which Villain Is Still A Mystery
Nobody has said which character Storrie would play. Johnny Blaze never had one signature foe in the comics, though he has faced off with Mephisto and a long list of demonic villains.
For Storrie, this would be a huge jump. Not long ago he was an unknown actor paying the bills by working as a waiter. He became one of the breakout stars of 2025 playing Russian hockey player Ilya Rozanov in Heated Rivalry, a show that has a second season on the way. That run also landed him a Saturday Night Live hosting gig that earned him an Emmy nomination. He has already filmed a role in Sarah Polley’s adaptation of The Bell Jar.
Ghost Rider Will Shoot On Film In New York
The casting news came with a few production details. Ghost Rider is set to shoot in New York next year, and cinematographer Linus Sandgren, who shot Dune: Part Three, has signed on as director of photography. The movie will be shot on film rather than digitally.
Shawn Levy is directing from a script by Jonathan Tropper. The project reunites the two with Gosling after they worked together on Star Wars: Starfighter, which opens in theaters on May 28, 2027. Kevin Feige is producing alongside Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Levy and Gosling, with Richie Palmer and Jessie Henderson as executive producers.
Marvel made the surprise announcement at San Diego Comic-Con in July and gave the film a July 28, 2028 release date.
This is the first time Marvel Studios has made a Ghost Rider movie of its own. The character’s last big-screen outings were the Nicolas Cage films made by Sony, which put Johnny Blaze up against Mephisto and his son Blackheart. Whoever Storrie ends up playing, he would be stepping into a corner of Marvel that has been dark on the big screen for well over a decade.
