The film explores how the ship came to life, and it had an unusual path into the fleet. Disney did not order the Disney Adventure from scratch. It bought a partially built ship, then known as Global Dream, in November 2022 and had it finished at Meyer Werft’s yard in Wismar, Germany.
From A Half-Finished Hull To Singapore
There is plenty of ground to cover. The ship reached Singapore on March 3, 2026, and Robert Downey Jr., its godparent, christened it a day later with the line, “I christen thee, Disney Adventure, may God bless this ship and all who sail upon her.” Guests began sailing on the maiden voyage on March 10, and the ship has run three- and four-night cruises out of Singapore since.
It is Disney Cruise Line’s eighth ship, its largest so far and its first to homeport in Asia. Josh D’Amaro said at the christening ceremony that the ship “will introduce Disney to audiences who may be experiencing our magic for the very first time.”
What Is On Board
For anyone who has not sailed on it, the ship stands apart from the rest of the fleet. It has seven themed areas, including San Fransokyo Street from Big Hero 6, along with a Broadway-style musical called “Remember” and fireworks at sea. It also carries Ironcycle Test Run, the first roller coaster on a Disney cruise ship.
The food side of the ship keeps growing, too. A Duffy and Friends breakfast was added in October, which we covered when the Duffy and Friends breakfast came to the Disney Adventure.
Where To Watch
Charting a New Course arrives November 28 in three places. Disney+ carries it for streaming subscribers, National Geographic airs it on the linear channel, and JioHotstar brings it to viewers in India.
The film lands while the cruise line is in the middle of a long expansion. Disney Cruise Line plans to add five more ships by 2031, which would take the fleet to 13. For now, the Disney Adventure is the only ship in the fleet sailing from Singapore, where it has a five-year home port commitment.
