A New Face on the Savanna
Disney’s Animal Kingdom has a brand-new resident, and she’s absolutely adorable. Cinnamon, a newborn Ankole cattle calf, has made her debut on Kilimanjaro Safaris at Walt Disney World, giving guests one more reason to keep their eyes peeled during the beloved wildlife attraction. As WDWInfo reported, Disney Parks shared the news along with photos of Cinnamon exploring the savanna alongside the rest of the herd. Her mother is Clove, and the two have been staying close together as Cinnamon settles into her new surroundings.
About Ankole Cattle
Ankole cattle are a striking breed native to the Great Lakes region of central Africa, best recognized by their impressively long, sweeping horns, which can span up to eight feet tip to tip once fully grown. Adult Ankole are a majestic sight on the savanna at Kilimanjaro Safaris, which makes a baby calf like Cinnamon an especially sweet contrast. While the breed has been part of Disney’s Animal Kingdom since the park opened in 1998, Cinnamon is the very first Ankole calf ever born at Walt Disney World in more than two decades, making her arrival a genuine milestone rather than just a routine addition to the herd.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom is home to more than 300 species of animals, and the team of animal care specialists and veterinarians works year-round to support the health and wellbeing of every resident. New births are always cause for celebration, both behind the scenes and out on the safari route.
Not the First New Arrival This Month
Cinnamon isn’t the only new face at Kilimanjaro Safaris lately. Earlier this month, Ivy, a Masai giraffe calf, made her own debut on the savanna, joining her mother Willow and half-brother Tucker. It’s been a busy and exciting season for the animal care team at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and guests have been treated to some truly special wildlife moments on the safari route.
If you’re planning a visit to Walt Disney World, Kilimanjaro Safaris operates daily and is one of the most popular attractions in the park. Early morning rides tend to offer the best animal activity, so arriving at rope drop gives you the best chance of spotting Cinnamon and her fellow savanna residents at their most active.
A Great Reason to Visit Animal Kingdom
There’s always something new happening at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and baby animals have a way of making any visit feel extra special. Cinnamon joins a growing family of wildlife that guests can see up close on one of Walt Disney World’s most unique and immersive experiences. Keep an eye out for her the next time you ride Kilimanjaro Safaris.
