Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now just days away, and Sony and Marvel have spent the past week pulling out all the stops. A new teaser arrived Thursday night celebrating the countdown to the film’s July 31 release, capping a Comic-Con run that also delivered a new clip, exclusive footage in Hall H and a wave of revealing comments from the cast and creative team.
The Final Countdown
A fresh clip from the film also made the rounds last week, giving fans another taste of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in action ahead of opening night. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a script by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the film picks up four years after No Way Home with Peter living anonymously in a city that no longer remembers him. Overseas audiences will get a premium format option that American moviegoers will not: IMAX has listed the film as playing its screens only in select international markets, with Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey holding domestic IMAX exclusivity through the end of July. China is among the territories confirmed to receive IMAX screenings, joining Avengers: Doomsday later this year.
Hall H Screened A Hulk Fight
Marvel Studios kept a piece of the film in reserve for its Hall H panel on Saturday night, screening a sequence in which Spider-Man and the Punisher square off against the Hulk. Jon Bernthal appeared on stage during the presentation, and the footage marks the clearest confirmation yet of how large a role the Hulk plays in a film that has kept its antagonist lineup unusually quiet. The sequence has not been released publicly.
Update: A First Person Swing And Holland’s Own Stunts
More footage circulated over the weekend, including a first person web-swinging sequence shot from Peter’s own vantage point as he moves through the city. It is a straightforward flex of the film’s action photography, and the closest the marketing has come to promising the sort of kinetic set piece the trailers have mostly withheld.
Behind the scenes material also surfaced showing Holland performing his own stunt work. He has done a substantial amount of it since taking the role in 2016, and it carries more weight on this production specifically. Filming paused for a week in September 2025 after Holland sustained a mild concussion during a stunt on the Pinewood set outside London. He was examined at a hospital but not admitted, no one else was hurt, and shooting resumed on September 29 without affecting the release date.
Sadie Sink Finally Steps Into View
Marvel and Sony spent months keeping Sadie Sink’s role under wraps, and the marketing team leaned into the secrecy rather than away from it. That posture eased last week, when a first look at the Stranger Things star in costume began circulating alongside the newest promo spot. The studios still have not named the character, and speculation continues to run toward Jean Grey despite Holland having already ruled that theory out. A press moment in which Holland, Jon Bernthal and Jacob Batalon were invited to blink twice if the rumor were true settled nothing, which was almost certainly the point.
Sink has since described leaning on a familiar source for advice about joining Marvel. In an interview with ComicBook, she said she spoke with her Stranger Things co-star David Harbour about the transition, reporting that “he loves the Marvel family.” Harbour has played Alexei Shostakov since Black Widow and appears in Avengers: Doomsday, which makes him a reasonable person to ask about what a long-term Marvel commitment actually involves.
The final promo wave has leaned heavily on music, with one spot built around NF’s “Give Me A Reason” and another cut to Olivia Rodrigo’s “Stupid Song.” Holland has also offered a spoiler-adjacent roadmap for the film’s structure, telling fans at the Shanghai premiere stop that things start to go genuinely crazy around the twenty-six minute mark, which reports from the event peg as the point at which Peter sees MJ with another man.
Holland Teases The Symbiote And A Torch Team Up
Holland gave fans plenty to chew on in press interviews through the convention. Asked about the Symbiote, the actor said his Peter Parker will come across the infamous black goo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe one day, though he stopped short of confirming whether it happens in Brand New Day. Holland also shared his wish list for future team ups, naming Joseph Quinn’s Johnny Storm as the co-star he would most like to share the screen with. He pointed to the pair’s history in the comics and said he thinks the two of them would “get on really well.” Quinn, who played the Human Torch in Fantastic Four: First Steps, has previously said he is up for the pairing as well.
A Sad Spider-Man Movie
Zendaya, meanwhile, warned fans to bring tissues. Asked during an Onic Entertainment interview whether audiences will cry watching the film, she answered yes and added that she “cried multiple times.” Holland agreed and called the ending both cathartic and devastating, while Jacob Batalon simply said a lot of tears were involved.
Composer Michael Giacchino, returning for his fourth Spider-Man film, added an intriguing detail about the score during the Musical Anatomy of a Superhero panel at Comic-Con. He explained that rather than repeat what he had done across three previous movies, he pitched Cretton on stripping the extraneous notes out of Peter’s theme to represent everything the character has lost, leaving the melody pared back to its bare roots. As GamesRadar reported from the panel, Giacchino told the crowd he wanted to make a sad Spider-Man movie, and joked that he probably should have tried the approach a few films earlier.
The final stretch caps a marketing campaign that steadily raised the stakes since Marvel confirmed its return to Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con. Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters July 31.
