Zombie Captain America is back at Disney California Adventure. The undead Avenger from Marvel Studios’ What If…? is roaming Avengers Campus on Sunday, September 27, for D23 Night at Oogie Boogie Bash, and he is not alone. A face character version of the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland is also out for the night.
D23 confirmed in a video posted Sunday night that both characters are exclusive to the D23 Member party, which means guests at the remaining regular Oogie Boogie Bash dates should not expect to find either of them.
Zombie Captain America Is Back In Avengers Campus
Zombie Cap is appearing in Avengers Campus, the same land where he first showed up at the party in 2021. The character comes from the fifth episode of What If…?, “What If… Zombies?!”, which turned Steve Rogers and several other Avengers into the walking dead. His look in the park matches the show closely, with torn and decaying skin, a shredded suit and his shield in hand.
He is not a traditional hug and autograph meet. Zombie Cap stays in character as a menacing encounter, lurching toward guests and keeping his distance rather than posing arm in arm, which is a large part of why fans have kept asking for him to come back.
His Oogie Boogie Bash History
Disney first teased Zombie Captain America on October 16, 2021, and he made his debut at the party the next night, October 17. He then appeared through the rest of the 2021 season, which wrapped on Halloween night.
He returned only once after that, for the D23 Member Night held alongside the 2022 D23 Expo. Since then he has been off the regular lineup, and Sunday marks the second time a D23 party has brought him back.
The Queen Of Hearts Joins Him
The Queen of Hearts is appearing as a face character, meaning a performer in full costume and makeup rather than the oversized costumed version of the character. Her exact location in the park had not been confirmed at the time of publishing.
Like Zombie Cap, she is not part of the villain lineup Disney announced for the 2026 party season, which added Yzma as the year’s new treat trail villain.
What Else Is Exclusive To D23 Night
The two characters join the extras D23 had already announced for the night. The D23 event page lists a DJ at the Paradise Garden Bandstand, additional photo backdrops and two limited-edition D23 Halloween pins available to ticket purchasers.
Everything else follows the standard Oogie Boogie Bash format. The party runs from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., with guests admitted to Disney California Adventure as early as 3 p.m., and includes the treat trails, Villains Grove and Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake. Tickets for the D23 Night were $169 and required a D23 Member to be present with their guests.
Oogie Boogie Bash continues on select nights through October 31, but all remaining general admission dates are sold out.
