How To Activate Grogu Mode On Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (VIDEO)

The Millennium Falcon has a new co-pilot, and he is fifty years old with big ears. With the launch of the new Mandalorian and Grogu mission on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Imagineers hid a brand-new secret Easter egg inside the attraction: Grogu Mode. Here is exactly how to unlock it on your next flight.

What Is Grogu Mode?

Longtime Galaxy’s Edge fans will remember Chewie Mode, the hidden version of the original mission where Chewbacca’s roars replaced the dialogue. With the new Mandalorian and Grogu storyline that debuted May 22, 2026, the same day the film hit theaters, Chewie Mode has retired and Grogu Mode has taken its place. Once activated, Grogu appears on the Falcon’s communication screen, the console lights glow green, and most of the mission narration is replaced with Grogu’s coos, babbles, and reactions. If your crew picks Coruscant, the Cantina song even plays along the way.

How To Activate Grogu Mode, Step By Step

The good news: unlike Chewie Mode, you do not need all six crew members to cooperate. Grogu Mode rests entirely on the two gunners in the middle row.

  1. Ask the cast member assigning positions for the two gunner seats in the middle row. Assignments are at their discretion, but it never hurts to ask nicely.
  2. Board, buckle up, and do NOT activate your position right away like you normally would.
  3. Before activating, both gunners press and HOLD the lowest of the four horizontal white buttons on the console, the one closest to you.
  4. Both gunners must do this together. If only one of you performs the sequence, it will not trigger.
  5. When done correctly, Grogu pops up on the comms screen and the lights turn green. Congratulations, the kid is in charge now.

You can watch a Disney cast member demonstrate the activation over at Attractions Magazine. One tip from fans who have tried it: ride the new mission normally at least once first, since Grogu Mode replaces the dialogue that explains what is actually happening.

About The New Mandalorian And Grogu Mission

The updated mission sends Hondo Ohnaka’s recruits chasing bounties alongside Din Djarin and Grogu, starting with a high-speed pursuit on Tatooine before branching to one of three destinations chosen by an engineer: Cloud City on Bespin, the city-planet Coruscant, or the wreckage of the second Death Star near Endor. Engineers can even place outbound calls to Grogu aboard the Razor Crest to check in on the little guy mid-flight. Walt Disney Imagineering built the update in Unreal Engine 5 with Industrial Light and Magic, working directly with Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, as detailed on StarWars.com.

The mission debuted alongside the film’s theatrical release, and it is a genuine upgrade in replay value with branching paths and hidden details on every route. For how the movie itself is faring, check out our coverage of The Mandalorian and Grogu at the box office.
