One of EPCOT’s most distinctive dining spots is about to go dark for a while. Coral Reef Restaurant, the underwater-themed seafood spot overlooking The Seas with Nemo & Friends pavilion, will close on a confirmed date this September for a scheduled refurbishment.
A Beloved EPCOT Dining Spot Takes A Break
Coral Reef Restaurant has been a fixture of EPCOT’s World Nature neighborhood for decades, known for the massive aquarium views that let guests dine alongside sea turtles, rays, and tropical fish over seafood-forward dishes. According to Disney Tourist Blog and MickeyBlog, the restaurant’s own webpage now confirms it will be temporarily closed beginning September 8, 2026, with a reopening expected later in 2026. Disney has not shared additional detail on what the work will involve.
Refurbishments like this one usually cover dining room finishes, seating, and behind-the-scenes kitchen equipment, all while working around the restaurant’s signature aquarium setting. Given the scale of those viewing windows, any work inside Coral Reef tends to be a more involved job than a standard restaurant refresh. The closure also follows Disney quietly ending the restaurant’s lunch service earlier this year, leaving Coral Reef on a dinner-only schedule.
