A Major Honor For Disney’s New CEO
Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro has been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the organization behind the Oscars. D’Amaro is among 529 new members invited to become Oscar voters in 2026, joining a class that includes several other names with Disney connections. According to the Academy’s official announcement, this year’s class features 95 Oscar nominees, 21 of them winners, with D’Amaro listed among the invited executives.
Who Else Is On The List
The full class of invited members includes a notable roster of Disney-adjacent talent. Josh Gad, who voiced Olaf in the Frozen franchise, received an invitation, as did Simu Liu, who starred in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings for Marvel Studios. Jon Bernthal, who returns as the Punisher in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is also among the new invitees. Other names on the broader list include Jacob Elordi, Jenna Ortega, Julia Garner, and Teyana Taylor.
Who Is Josh D’Amaro?
Josh D’Amaro became CEO of The Walt Disney Company on March 18, 2026, succeeding Bob Iger. Before taking the top job, D’Amaro served as Chairman of Disney Experiences from 2020 to 2026, overseeing all of Disney’s theme parks, resorts, cruise line, and consumer products businesses worldwide. Under his leadership, Disney announced a historic roughly $60 billion investment in its parks and experiences over the next decade. A 28-year Disney veteran, D’Amaro is one of the most visible advocates for Disney Parks expansion the company has ever had.
His inclusion in the Academy is a recognition of his stature within the broader entertainment industry, even as his primary background is in theme parks and experiences rather than film production.
