Disney World’s Churro-lympics Winners Are Now On The Menu At Animal Kingdom

Walt Disney World’s chefs held a churro competition called the Churro-lympics this spring, and two of the gold medal winners are now on the menu at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The Churro-misu Cold Brew is at Isle of Java, and the DOLE Whip Pineapple and Chili-Lime and Churro Sundae is at Warung Outpost.

The property-wide contest was held in April and challenged culinary teams across the resort to reimagine the classic Disney churro. Chef Brad and his Animal Kingdom team took gold with both entries. He said the goal was flavors that feel globally inspired and full of discovery, like the park itself, made by layering familiar favorites with combinations guests would not expect.

This one is built to taste like tiramisu. It starts with sweetened Joffrey’s Cold Brew, gets a layer of mascarpone cream on top, and is dusted with cocoa powder. A crunchy churro finishes it off, so you get coffee and a snack in the same cup. It is listed at $7.99 on the Isle of Java menu.

“With the Churro-misu Cold Brew, we wanted the flavors of the classic tiramisu,” Chef Brad said. Isle of Java is a coffee stop, so this is the one to grab first thing in the morning if you are heading to Animal Kingdom at park opening.

The sundae puts two of Disney World’s most famous snacks in one cup. Pineapple DOLE Whip is topped with chili-lime marinated pineapple for a little sweet heat, then finished with a warm cinnamon churro. Chef Brad described it as a mix of sweet, tart, spicy, creamy and crunchy, with tropical flavors and Latin-inspired accents. It is $8.29 on the Warung Outpost menu.

“So far, our guests are really enjoying the combination of two iconic Disney World snacks,” he said, calling it “something that’s nice and cool for a hot day that they can walk around the park and enjoy.” Disney suggests it as a cool-down after walking Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail or Maharajah Jungle Trek.

More Holiday Eating At Animal Kingdom

The churros will have company soon. Animal Kingdom is getting its own holiday food spot this season, with Santa’s Holiday Grove joining the rest of Disney World’s holiday menus.

Disney has not said what the other Churro-lympics entries were or whether more winners will show up at other parks. For now, Animal Kingdom is the place to try the gold medal churros, and both are a good excuse to make it a coffee and dessert kind of day.
