Avatar: Fire and Ash is getting a Collector’s Edition on December 8, and it comes with six hours of bonus material nobody has seen yet. The new release arrives on Digital and 4K Ultra HD, and with the extras carried over from the first home release, the full package runs past nine hours of bonus features.

The headliner is Fire and Water: Making the Avatar Films, a new two-episode behind-the-scenes series about the making of the franchise. There is also a piece called Stephen Lang “Infinite Space,” built around the actor who has played Colonel Miles Quaritch since the first film.

Deleted Scenes, Side-By-Sides And A Script

The full list of new extras includes a dozen deleted and extended scenes. Two are longer cuts of sequences fans already know: the Wind Traders travel vignettes and the Sullys’ escape from Ash through the swamp. The rest were cut entirely, including Selfridge’s arrival, Lo’ak chasing after Payakan, a coming of age ceremony, Jake and Spider held captive at Bridgehead, and an alternate death for Ardmore.

Cameron’s performance capture process gets a lot of attention. Nine side-by-side comparisons put the actors’ capture sessions next to the finished shots, from Jake and Neytiri arguing about faith to Ronal giving birth as Jake and Lo’ak surface. Five scene deconstructions break down moments like Varang’s fire dance and Kiri learning she is Eywa’s child.

Two performance capture demos were filmed on November 20, 2025, at Manhattan Beach Studios, one with Stephen Lang and Oona Chaplin and one with Sam Worthington and Sigourney Weaver. The set also includes four awards season panels, among them a cast panel on the Disney lot and a Q&A with Miley Cyrus, who sings the end title song “Dream as One.” A short called Gone with the Wind TrAIders rounds out the new material.

Physical copies get two extras that the digital version does not: the script and a production art gallery, filed under Archives.

The Extras From The First Release Carry Over

Everything from the earlier home release comes along too. That includes Igniting the Flame: The Making of Avatar: Fire and Ash, a tribute to the late producer Jon Landau, the RDA Orientation videos that teach some Na’vi language and break down the clans of Pandora, the “Dream as One” music video, and an English family audio track with all objectionable language removed.

Fire and Ash is the third Avatar film, and the franchise is staying busy away from theaters too. Avatar Experience: Guardians of Eywa will premiere at Niagara Falls in May 2027.

The Collector’s Edition goes on sale December 8, a little more than two weeks before Christmas.
