Golden Goose and Disney have teamed up on a Mickey and Friends collection that sends the gang into outer space, and it went on sale October 13. The collection covers Golden Goose’s signature Super-Star sneakers plus apparel, caps and a lineup of pins and patches, available at goldengoose.com and select Golden Goose stores around the world.
The look is retro space age. Mickey shows up as a tiny astronaut, Donald floats among the stars and plants a flag, Daisy wears a space suit and Pluto drifts by with his tail wagging.
The Super-Star Sneaker
The sneaker is the centerpiece. Golden Goose redid its Super-Star in vintage-style gray suede with the usual white leather star. On one side, astronaut Mickey chases Pluto toward the star, while the other side has Donald floating among the stars and Daisy in her space gear. The brand’s usual tab is swapped for a Mickey-shaped planet, complete with craters and rings. The shoe comes in men’s, women’s and kids’ sizes.
Pins, Patches And Laces
Golden Goose built a good part of this collection around customizing. There are space-themed pins, vintage-style patches, charms and galaxy-print shoelaces, and select pieces can also be finished with screen-printed Disney graphics through the brand’s Co-Creation service.
Apparel For Kids And Adults
The clothing runs from minimalist tees to hoodies, distressed sweatshirts, polos, a varsity jacket and oversized reversible bombers. Kids get a denim baseball cap with Mickey’s signature silhouette, which Disney pitches as a swap for the usual ears on a park day, and there is a distressed cap for adults.
A Customization Tour Starts In Beverly Hills
Golden Goose is also hosting events at stores worldwide where Disney artists will personalize products for shoppers, which Disney says will cover 20 stores. Golden Goose’s own schedule started the tour October 13 at its Rodeo Drive store in Beverly Hills, with South Coast Plaza in Orange County, California, following on October 14. From there, Variety reports it heads to cities including New York, Miami, Mexico City, Milan, Paris, London, Shanghai, Tokyo and Seoul through early December.
At those events, Disney artists will draw Mickey and Friends illustrations live on co-branded cards for guests to take home, and there will be workshops for making Mickey ears, coloring comic book art and designing keychains. A co-branded Mickey and Friends balloon will be handed out as a gift. Registration and the full event schedule are on Golden Goose’s Disney collection page.
