Disney Springs just got a delicious new addition. Kakigori Kool, a new vendor specializing in Japanese-style shaved ice, is now open at Walt Disney World’s entertainment and dining district, and it’s exactly the kind of cool, refreshing treat you want when you’re spending a summer day in Florida. The cart comes from Morimoto Asia, Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto’s Pan-Asian restaurant, and is located just outside the restaurant in Disney Springs.
What Is Kakigori?
If you haven’t encountered kakigori before, you’re in for a treat. Unlike American-style snow cones, which use crushed ice, kakigori uses ice that’s been shaved to an incredibly fine, fluffy texture, almost like fresh snow. The result is something that’s lighter and more delicate than a snow cone, and it absorbs flavored syrups in a completely different way. The texture alone is worth trying it for the first time.
Japanese kakigori has been a popular summer street food in Japan for centuries, and it’s had a growing following in the United States in recent years as the style has spread through food markets and specialty dessert shops. Having it show up at Disney Springs makes it accessible to a much wider audience, including the millions of Walt Disney World visitors who might never have encountered the style otherwise. According to LaughingPlace, the cart offers two options: a Classic with grape, cherry, and lemon syrups plus strawberry boba for $8, and a Signature with frozen vanilla custard and fruit syrups for $9.
Where to Find It
Kakigori Kool is now open at Disney Springs, and Disney notes it is currently the only shaved ice cart at the district, adding to an already strong lineup of food and beverage options. Disney Springs has been steadily building out its dining and snacking options throughout 2026, with Level99 also set to open its doors on June 29 with its own Detroit-style pizza and cocktail menu.
For a full day at Disney Springs, Kakigori Kool makes a great mid-afternoon stop, especially during Florida’s summer heat, when temperatures routinely climb into the 90s. It’s a light, satisfying treat that won’t weigh you down the way a heavier dessert would. Note that the cart is cashless, accepting only card or mobile payments.
