Where The Split Theory Came From
The idea did not come from nowhere. Reports throughout early 2026 suggested Marvel had at least considered a two-part structure internally, with some insiders claiming the final call would depend on how Avengers: Doomsday performed at the box office. Given the sheer scale of the Secret Wars comic event the film draws from, plenty of fans argued the story needed the extra breathing room, while others worried a split would feel like a cash grab in the mold of other franchise finales.
One Film To End The Saga
Feige’s confirmation means Secret Wars will carry the full weight of concluding the Multiverse Saga in a single theatrical event, arriving in December 2027 after Avengers: Doomsday opens this December 18. Feige has said the two Avengers films will not mirror the direct two-part structure of Infinity War and Endgame, but they remain deeply connected chapters of one story. It also sharpens the stakes for what comes after, since Feige has already said the MCU’s X-Men reboot will arrive very soon after Secret Wars as the franchise resets for its mutant era.
