Marvel Studios has given fans their best look yet at the sprawling cast of “Avengers: Doomsday.” A piece of official concept art, unveiled during the studio’s presence at Bilibili World in Shanghai, assembles the film’s heroes and villain into a single sweeping illustration and offers the clearest view to date of Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. It is a rare, sanctioned glimpse at a project Marvel has guarded closely, arriving after months of leaked and stylized promo art.
A Closer Look At Doctor Doom And The Ensemble
At the center of the artwork stands Doctor Doom, complete with his classic hooded cloak and metal mask, giving fans the sharpest look yet at how Downey’s villain will appear on screen. Reports peg the illustration at roughly 26 characters, arranged into recognizable factions. On the left are Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, Thor, and Ant-Man, alongside the New Avengers lineup carried over from “Thunderbolts,” including Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, Bucky Barnes, Ghost, U.S. Agent, and Bob.
To the right of Doom, Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards leads the Fantastic Four, joined by the Wakandans, Shang-Chi, Sam Wilson’s Captain America and Falcon. Anchoring the bottom of the piece is the legacy X-Men team, led by a suited-up Cyclops, with fresh costume looks visible for Nightcrawler, Beast, Gambit, Mystique, Magneto, and Professor X. Eagle-eyed fans will also spot Tom Hiddleston’s Loki tucked directly beneath Doom, seemingly still powering the Multiverse. One notable absence is Tenoch Huerta’s Namor, who was part of the original chair reveal and has already turned up in a previous teaser, yet does not appear anywhere in this illustration.
The Artist Behind The Illustration
The illustration comes from Andy Park, who shared it as a commemoration of “Doomsday” being the final film he led as Director of Visual Development at Marvel Studios. Park has been one of the most influential visual architects of the MCU, joining the studio in 2010 to work on “Captain America: The First Avenger” and going on to shape the look of more than 40 films and shows, leading 15 of them as Director of Visual Development. That run came to an end in April 2026, when Park was laid off as part of a wider round of Disney cuts that gutted the Marvel Studios visual development team. His farewell piece doubles as a tribute to that career and a reveal of these characters and their looks all in one frame.
What It Means For The Road To December
The reveal capped a busy day for Marvel in Shanghai, where studio head Kevin Feige also told the crowd that Yelena Belova plays a big part in “Doomsday” and teased that fans might see her a little bit sooner in the movies. As we covered when Feige all but confirmed Yelena’s arrival in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”, that tease points squarely at the only Marvel film standing between now and December. Feige additionally confirmed that the MCU’s X-Men film will arrive after “Avengers: Secret Wars.” Directed by the Russo Brothers from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron, “Avengers: Doomsday” sends heroes from three distinct universes on a deadly collision course, and fans can expect even more when Marvel returns to Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con on July 25, where the first full trailer is widely expected. “Avengers: Doomsday” opens in theaters on December 18, 2026.
