Marvel’s Wolverine Final Trailer Puts Sabretooth, Deathstrike And Omega Red On Screen Before The September 15 Launch

The Marvel’s Wolverine final trailer arrived Thursday, September 3, as Sony’s September State of Play opened with one last look at Insomniac Games’ take on Logan before the PlayStation 5 exclusive launches on Tuesday, September 15. The short trailer stitches new cutscenes and gameplay to footage fans have already seen, with Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike and Omega Red all getting a beat.

Alongside the trailer, Insomniac and Marvel Games released new looks at Wolverine himself and at Mystique and Jean Grey, the latter voiced by Krizia Bajos, whose confrontation with an enraged Logan anchored the story trailer shown at San Diego Comic-Con in July.

What The Trailer Shows

The footage moves through the locations Insomniac has been teasing since the game was first dated: the frozen Canadian wilderness, the streets of Tokyo and the island nation of Madripoor, with Logan carving through Reavers aboard an aircraft mid-flight and squaring off against a large mechanized enemy. The Hand return as a faction, led here by Lady Deathstrike, and Bolivar Trask and Trask Industries remain the story’s central threat. Sabretooth is not one of the villains this time: he and Mystique fight alongside Logan in Team X, the mutant task force Logan rejoins after walking away three years earlier. Insomniac’s own description of the game is “unapologetically violent and gory,” and the trailer does not soften that.

Liam McIntyre voices James “Logan” Howlett. The game is a single-player, narrative-driven action adventure and is not open world, a point Insomniac has repeated across its marketing to set expectations against its two Spider-Man games.

Combat And Features

Insomniac detailed the combat system in a PlayStation Blog post on August 28, which is also where the “violent and gory” line comes from. Fighting is built around close-range aggression, with claws, kicks and critical strikes feeding into rechargeable Special Techniques such as the Tornado Spin, Knee Breaker and Spiral Strike. The game carries more than 100 accessibility features, including high contrast visuals, English audio description and adjustable game speed, plus new toggles for blood, dismemberment and adult language that let players dial the violence down without turning it off.

Marvel’s Wolverine sells for $69.99 in a standard edition and $79.99 for the Digital Deluxe, which adds five suits, five claw sets and three extra technique points. A PS5 Digital Edition bundle in Wolverine’s Battle Yellow was announced in August.

The Long Road To Launch

Announced in September 2021 alongside Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the game survived a December 2023 ransomware attack that leaked development footage and a leadership change that put Marcus Smith and Mike Daly in charge as creative director and game director. It resurfaced with a Fall 2026 window last September, was locked to September 15 on February 24, and showed its story trailer at Comic-Con, where Insomniac framed the setting as a world without the X-Men.

Marvel Games, Disney’s video game licensing arm, co-produces the title with Insomniac under the same arrangement as the studio’s two Spider-Man games. The review embargo lifts Thursday, September 10, at 8 a.m. PT, five days ahead of release, an unusually early window that Insomniac says was meant to give critics time to finish the game. Marvel’s Wolverine launches September 15 on PlayStation 5.
