Scat Cat’s Club Closes October 6 And The Port Orleans Beignets Move To The Food Court Until December

Mickey beignets at Scat Cat's Club Cafe, Disney's Port Orleans Resort French Quarter

Scat Cat’s Club at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort French Quarter will close for refurbishment on October 6, and the two halves of it come back on different schedules. The cafe, home of the resort’s Mickey beignets, is expected to return in December, while the lounge stays dark until January 2027, according to Blog Mickey, which reports Disney has not said what the refurbishment will change inside either space.

The beignets are not going anywhere for long. Disney is moving beignet and coffee service to Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory, the resort’s quick-service food court a short walk from the lobby, for the length of the cafe closure. The same Mickey-shaped beignets and specialty coffees will be sold there, along with the seasonal Ghoulish Delight beignets, the cookies and cream version with marshmallow creme, which run only through November 1.

A Temporary Bar Through The Winter

The lounge is the longer problem. Scat Cat’s Club Lounge is the resort’s evening spot, known for its live jazz and specialty cocktail list, and with it closed into 2027, Disney is setting up a temporary bar near the cafe that will run from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. What it will serve has not been announced. Because the cafe returns in December and the lounge does not, the temporary bar is likely to outlast the beignet relocation by at least a month.

For guests, the practical version is this: from October 6, beignets and coffee are at Sassagoula, evening drinks are at a pop-up bar by the cafe, and the full Scat Cat’s Club experience with music does not return until the new year.

Why The Beignets Matter

Scat Cat’s Club Cafe is a destination in its own right at Walt Disney World, because the Mickey beignets have a following well beyond the guests staying at the resort. The current menu lists them at $7.99 for three or $12.99 for six with a dipping sauce, the Ghoulish version at $9.49, a two-beignet sundae at $9.99 and the Baileys-spiked Baton Rouge Beignets at $12.99. Visitors staying elsewhere take the bus or boat over specifically for a bag, and the seasonal versions tend to circulate on social media within hours of appearing. Moving them to the food court keeps the item available, but it also moves the line into a space that already handles breakfast and dinner for the whole resort.

Port Orleans French Quarter is the smaller of the two Port Orleans resorts and Sassagoula Floatworks is its only food court, so it will be the only counter-service option on the property during the closure. Riverside, next door, keeps its own Riverside Mill Food Court and River Roost Lounge, which may absorb some of the evening traffic.

A Season Of Resort Refurbishments

The closure is one of several dining refurbishments Disney has scheduled around Walt Disney World this fall. The Grand Floridian Cafe is pointing to a November 2 return after a summer closure, Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill closes at Disney Springs on September 13, and the Diamond Horseshoe reopens October 4 as a pop-up. Port Orleans French Quarter also just picked up new Mickey-shaped Strawberry Waffles and Strawberry Pancakes at Sassagoula as part of Disney’s fall menu additions, which means the food court will be busier on both ends of the day.

Guests with October through January stays booked at French Quarter should plan on the food court for beignets and the temporary bar for drinks, and check the My Disney Experience app for hours once the closure begins.
