The Cheetah Girls are officially strutting back into the spotlight. Disney has greenlit The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen, a brand new music-driven movie for Disney Channel and Disney+, bringing back original stars Raven-Symoné and Adrienne Bailon alongside a fresh generation of young performers.
The Original Cheetahs Return
Raven-Symoné reprises her role as Galleria, with Adrienne Bailon returning as Chanel. Original star Sabrina Bryan will make a special appearance as Dorinda, while Lynn Whitfield and Lori Alter return as Dorothea and Juanita. Sophia Bush joins the cast in a supporting role as Jennifré. Raven-Symoné executive produces alongside Debra Martin Chase, who steered the original trilogy, and Bailon serves as a co-producer.
Meet The New Generation
The next wave of Cheetahs is led by Leah Sava’ Jeffries of Percy Jackson and the Olympians as Galleria’s daughter Faith, joined by Carmen Sanchez as Chanel’s sister Dior, Kaileen Chang as Ruby, and Sophie Lennon as Brooklyn. Newcomer Kamogelo Ramashala, discovered during a global open casting call, rounds out the group as Kendi. Bille Woodruff directs, with the film heading into production in South Africa this month.
A Beloved Franchise Reborn
The story follows Galleria and Chanel as they travel to Africa with Faith and her friends to volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary, discovering the true Cheetah spirit as they work to save the preserve. The original Cheetah Girls helped launch the wave of Disney Channel musicals that followed, and this revival lands as Disney leans back into its beloved television franchises.
