Some Disney magic lasts a lifetime. Disneyland Paris recently welcomed back Anne-Lise, the very first child to have a wish granted at the resort, more than three decades after her original visit changed her life.
Where It All Began
In 1992, a nine-year-old Anne-Lise walked through the gates of the park for an experience made possible by the newly established collaboration between Disneyland Paris and the French charity Petits Princes. She had the honor of lighting the Christmas tree at Disneyland Park, a moment she still remembers vividly, describing it as more than magical. It was the very first wish the destination ever granted.
An Emotional Return
Thirty-four years later, Anne-Lise returned to where it all began, joined by her brother, who had also been part of that original 1992 visit. During her stay she met around twenty Disney VoluntEARS at a breakfast hosted at Disney’s Newport Bay Club, connecting with the volunteer cast members who dedicate their time to supporting seriously ill children and their families. She shared a heartfelt message for them, calling the VoluntEARS little specks of pixie dust who help make dreams come true.
Three Decades Of Wishes
Anne-Lise’s return highlights just how far the commitment has grown. Since that first wish in 1992, Disneyland Paris has helped grant more than 25,000 wishes for seriously ill children across Europe, with 1,147 granted in 2025 alone in partnership with more than 45 European charities. Her story is a moving reminder that behind every wish is a child, a family, and memories that last a lifetime.
