The Devil Wears Prada 2 arrived on Disney+ and Hulu on Wednesday, and the streaming debut came with a physical companion piece. A pop-up called Welcome To Runway: An Immersive Experience, presented courtesy of Disney+ and Hulu, opened the same day at the Museum of Arts and Design at Columbus Circle in New York, and it runs only through August 9.
Inside The Runway Offices
The installation recreates settings from the film so visitors can step into them. That includes Miranda Priestly’s desk, staged for the famous “That’s all” dismissal, and the Runway fashion closet, the room that has launched a thousand internship fantasies since the original film in 2006. Guests can pose for photos throughout, sit for a personalized styling consultation, get a lesson in walking a runway, and have their own moment in Runway’s spotlight captured on video.
Original costumes worn by Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and other cast members are displayed throughout the space, tracing the wardrobe of both films. Admission to the experience is included with a regular museum ticket, and full details are on the Museum of Arts and Design’s event page.
A Sequel Twenty Years In The Making
The pop-up caps an unusually theatrical marketing run for the sequel, which brought Streep onto an actual Dolce and Gabbana runway in character as Miranda during Milan Fashion Week. The film reunites Streep, Hathaway, Blunt and Stanley Tucci two decades after the original, with Miranda navigating a Runway that has traded its print prestige for clickbait economics while Emily Charlton now holds advertiser power at Dior.
Putting the film on Disney+ and Hulu with a Manhattan photo-op pop-up attached follows the playbook Disney has been using to make streaming releases feel like events rather than uploads, the same instinct behind the Disney Worldbuilders documentary getting its own August rollout on Disney+.
For anyone within reach of Columbus Circle, the window is short. The experience closes August 9, less than two weeks after opening.
