Kylie Cantrall says she is done with Descendants. The comments came in her new sit down with the Zach Sang Show, and a six minute clip of the exchange posted Wednesday under the title “Kylie Cantrall is Ready To Move on From ‘Descendants’.” The timing is hard to miss. Descendants: Wicked Wonderland premiered on Disney Channel on July 16, it is the middle chapter of a story arc built around the time traveling Pocket Watch, and the third movie has not been announced.
Turning 21 And Growing Beyond Disney
Cantrall taped the full interview, which went up Monday, July 27, while promoting both Wicked Wonderland and her new EP Valley Girl Problems. In it she explains why turning 21 felt like the right moment to grow beyond Disney, and she describes the EP as a bridge between the fans who grew up watching her and the artist she is becoming. That is familiar language for a Disney Channel lead on a press run, but in the clip Cantrall goes further and says plainly that she is done with Descendants.
The music push behind those comments is real. Valley Girl Problems follows her 2025 debut EP B.O.Y., and in April she released “Carrie Bradshaw,” the lead single from her major label debut. Cantrall has been building toward this for most of her life, from her childhood YouTube channel Hello Kylie to Gabby Duran and the Unsittables, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, and finally the Descendants franchise.
The Third Pocket Watch Movie Nobody Mentioned
What the clip never addresses is the movie that is supposed to come next. Wicked Wonderland is the fifth Descendants film overall and the second in the arc that began with 2024’s Descendants: The Rise of Red, a run that fans and critics have taken to calling the Pocket Watch trilogy. The new movie ends with an unmistakable tease for another installment. Disney has not officially greenlit a sixth film, and Cantrall’s Red has been the face of the arc since Rise of Red made her the first title character in franchise history.
None of this means a third movie will not happen. Studios recast, storylines pivot, and actors soften positions when a deal lands. But as of this week the situation is simple: the trilogy’s middle film is two weeks old, its finale is unannounced, and its lead is telling interviewers she is ready to move on.
