The First Spider-Man: Brand New Day Clip Has Arrived Ahead Of The July 31 Release

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is in its final sprint to theaters, and Sony and Marvel Studios have kicked the marketing into high gear. The first official clip from the film debuted Friday via Good Morning America, and a brand new teaser arrived the same day, both landing exactly two weeks before the movie swings into theaters on July 31.

The clip itself delivers a matchup decades in the making: Spider-Man tangling with Jon Bernthal’s Punisher in the middle of a chaotic tank chase, with Peter trying to disarm Frank Castle and getting launched for his trouble. Bernthal appeared on Good Morning America alongside the footage to talk about bringing Frank Castle to the big screen opposite Tom Holland for the first time.

A Street Level Spidey With Heavyweight Threats

Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker in what has been billed as a grittier, street-level chapter following the events of No Way Home, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon back alongside newcomer Sadie Sink. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film picks up four years after Doctor Strange’s memory spell erased Peter from the world, and the supporting cast runs deep, with Mark Ruffalo appearing as Bruce Banner, Michael Mando returning as Mac Gargan, and Tramell Tillman and Liza Colón-Zayas in undisclosed roles. The promotional materials have leaned hard into two showstopper matchups: Spider-Man facing off against the ninjas of The Hand, and a bruising encounter with a savage version of the Hulk. Recent footage drops have given fans looks at both.

The press tour has been in full swing as well, with Zendaya even wearing a Mr. Negative-inspired outfit at a recent stop, fueling speculation about the villain lineup right up to release.

The MCU’s Next Domino

Brand New Day carries real weight for the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe heading into December’s Avengers: Doomsday, and its ending is expected to feed directly into that film. Marvel’s cosmic side is expanding at the same time, as we covered when Marvel Studios began developing Nova as a movie. Tickets for Spider-Man: Brand New Day are on sale now ahead of the July 31 opening.
