The Hatbox Ghost is getting his own popcorn bucket. Disneyland has announced that a new Haunted Mansion Hatbox Ghost Popcorn Bucket will be available at both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure for a limited time beginning Thursday, August 13.
A Fan Favorite Gets The Bucket Treatment
Few Disneyland characters have a devoted following quite like the Hatbox Ghost. Pulled from the Haunted Mansion almost immediately after the attraction’s 1969 debut because his vanishing head illusion never worked as intended, he returned to the ride on May 9, 2015 as part of Disneyland’s 60th anniversary celebration, arriving with modern projection effects and instantly becoming one of the most beloved figures in the mansion. Merchandise featuring the character reliably sells out, and popcorn buckets have become some of the most collectible items in the parks, so this combination is primed to draw lines.
Where To Find It
At Disneyland park, the bucket will be sold at Harbour Galley, Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, Popcorn at Frontierland, and Popcorn at New Orleans. Over at Disney California Adventure, look for it at Popcorn at Grizzly Peak Airfield and Popcorn Near Carthay Circle Restaurant. It will be available while supplies last, with a limit of two per person per transaction, and no discounts apply. Disney has not announced pricing, and it is unclear whether mobile ordering will be an option.
The August 13 launch date is no accident. It lands on D23 Day at the Disneyland Resort, the kickoff to the biggest Disney fan weekend of the year, when collectors and superfans will already be packing both parks. Anyone hoping to grab the bucket on day one should plan for an early start. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Cake Pop also debuts August 13, available at Candy Palace in Disneyland, Trolley Treats in Disney California Adventure, and Disney Wonderful World of Sweets in Downtown Disney.
Timed For Halloween Season
The bucket also arrives just as the resort ramps up toward Halloween Time and Oogie Boogie Bash, when Haunted Mansion Holiday takes over the attraction.
