Walt Disney World’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is set to take a temporary break later this year, with a confirmed closure date now on the books for seasonal refurbishment work across the storm-swept park.
A Splash Park Pause On The Way
According to WDWInfo and MickeyBlog, Typhoon Lagoon’s final day of operation will be September 8, 2026, with the park closing for its seasonal refurbishment beginning September 9. Disney has not yet announced a reopening date. Walt Disney World regularly rotates seasonal closures between its two water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, so crews can handle maintenance and refurbishment without shutting off water park access entirely. Once the closure begins, Blizzard Beach will be Walt Disney World’s sole operating water park.
Typhoon Lagoon is known for its massive surf pool, the Crush ‘n’ Gusher water coaster, the Castaway Creek lazy river, and the towering Miss Adventure Falls family raft ride. Refurbishments at the park usually focus on slide surfaces, plumbing, and pool refinishing, all of which require draining and closing affected areas to guests.
What This Could Mean For Trip Planning
Families with summer or fall trips built around a Typhoon Lagoon visit should plan around the September 9 closure.
