Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs Resort Verification Policy Is Now In Effect

Walt Disney World has officially implemented its new Disney Springs resort verification policy, requiring guests who use complimentary resort transportation from Disney Springs to verify a qualifying reservation. The policy took effect June 28, 2026 and has been added to the Walt Disney World website.

What The New Policy Requires

Under the new policy, guests using Disney’s complimentary bus or Sassagoula River Cruise boat service from Disney Springs to a Walt Disney World Resort hotel must verify their eligibility before boarding. Access is limited to three groups: guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel, and guests visiting a resort with a valid dining reservation or a valid experience or recreation reservation. Guests riding on a dining or experience reservation may board up to two hours before their reservation time. Cast Members at the Disney Springs transportation area check MagicBands, Key to the World cards, or My Disney Experience bookings, and guests who cannot verify a qualifying reservation will need to make their own way to the resorts rather than using the complimentary service. Full details are on the official Walt Disney World bus transportation page.

Disney Springs itself remains open to the general public and does not require a park ticket or resort reservation to visit, and it keeps its own free parking. The change only affects guests using the complimentary resort transportation to reach the resort hotels, not those arriving at Disney Springs by car, rideshare, or other means. Transportation from the theme parks to the resorts is unaffected by the new policy.

Why Disney Made The Change

The free bus and boat service between Disney Springs and the resort hotels was designed as an amenity for guests with a reason to be at those resorts. The verification policy is intended to ensure the service is used as intended rather than by off-property visitors seeking a free shuttle and a way around theme park parking, a pattern that grew as Disney Springs became more popular. Disney tested the same restriction during New Year’s and the Easter season before making it permanent and expanding it to the Sassagoula River Cruise.

For guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, or those with a qualifying dining or experience reservation, the process should be straightforward: having your reservation visible in the My Disney Experience app, a valid room key, or a MagicBand should satisfy verification.
