The last Wolfgang Puck restaurant at Walt Disney World will serve its final guests on September 13, ending the celebrity chef’s run at the resort after nearly three decades without a break.
Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill, the roughly 250-seat restaurant in the Town Center neighborhood of Disney Springs, will close permanently after service that Sunday, according to WDWMagic, which first reported the date. Neither Disney nor the restaurant has issued a public announcement, and no reason has been given. Disney has not said what will replace the space, and no future Wolfgang Puck location has been promised at the district.
The Reservation System Tells The Story
The booking calendar backs up the date. Reservation slots through September 13 showed as unavailable the day the news broke, and within a day the restaurant’s entire calendar had been blocked out, including the dates after the closure that had briefly shown openings into October. The resort’s official calendar still lists operating hours through late November, but that calendar is typically the last resource to be updated and is not worth relying on here. Guests hoping for one final round of the restaurant’s pizzas, pasta, steak or seafood have about two weeks to get in, and walk-ups remain the only option.
A Continuous Presence Since 1997
Puck was one of the pioneer restaurateurs of what was then Downtown Disney. Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe opened on the West Side in 1997, a sprawling two-story operation with a casual cafe, sushi bar, lounge, upstairs dining room, and an Express counter-service window. The Grand Cafe closed in August 2017, and Jaleo by Jose Andres now occupies its redeveloped site. A separate Wolfgang Puck Express ran for years in the Marketplace before closing permanently in October 2020, with eet by Maneet Chauhan taking over that space.
Bar and Grill arrived in November 2018 as the Town Center replacement, serving California cuisine with Mediterranean influences in a farmhouse-inspired dining room across from Planet Hollywood. Its closure means Walt Disney World will be without a Wolfgang Puck restaurant for the first time since 1997.
Another Name Off The Disney Springs Map
The restaurant joins a lengthening list of Disney Springs departures this year, and its exit leaves one of the largest dining footprints in Town Center empty with no announced successor. That is unusual for the district, where closures have typically come with a replacement concept attached, the way Jaleo and eet followed the earlier Puck locations. For now, the only certainty is the date. Whatever Disney has planned for the 250-seat space, it has not said a word, and the attached walk-up Gelato Bar is part of the same operation and is expected to close with it.
Walt Disney World has been reshaping its dining lineup across the resort this year, and the parks side of the kitchen has been just as busy, from the reimagined Diamond Horseshoe to the World Princess Week treats that rolled out across property in August.
